FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SUNSET ON THE BEACH RETURNS TO WAIKIKI
Experience Sunset on the Beach this weekend, as the popular weekend entertainment-movie-food fest returns to Queen’s Surf Beach this Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2, from 4 to 9 p.m.
Enjoy the music of Kristian Lei and Fine Players on the entertainment stage from 4:15 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and SugAHdaddy on Sunday. The entertainment continues until 6:30 p.m., when blockbuster movies are shown on the city’s 30-foot screen.
On Saturday, it’s Charlie’s Angels, the action-comedy, featuring three beautiful detectives working for a mysterious boss, Charlie, played by the voice of John Forsythe. An adaptation of the popular 70’s television series, Charlie’s Angels untangle a network of crime, capture a group of nefarious thugs and still manage to engage in fun and romance. The movie stars Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, with Bill Murray as Bosley.
On Sunday, Hugh Grant stars as a rich, irresponsible thirty-something confirmed bachelor who is content with his lifestyle until he stumbles upon a woman and her 12-year old son, who teaches him an enduring lesson about love. “About A Boy” is funny, engaging and delightful.
As with other Sunset on the Beach events, more than 24 crafters will be on hand from the Hawaii Handcrafters and Artists Alliance, featuring their “Made in Hawaii” products.
Whether you choose to dine on the romantic Kapahulu pier café-style beneath a canopy of stars or picnic casually on the beach, popular restaurants offer delicious selections throughout the evening, from delectable appetizers, beverages and snacks to enticing entrees. Participating restaurants include Royal Hawaiian Hot Dog, Express Foods, Time 2 Grind, Bale French Sandwich & Restaurant, Popcorn Express, Pizza Hut and Beach House Beverage Cart.
Sunset on the Beach is co-sponsored by the City and County of Honolulu, the Waikiki Improvement Association, Hawaii Restaurant Association, News 8, and K5 The Home Team. For more information, contact 523-CITY or the Waikiki Improvement Association at 923-1094.
