MAYOR ANNOUNCES TWO CABINET APPOINTMENTS
Mayor Jeremy Harris announced the appointment of two department heads at his Cabinet meeting this morning. Timothy E. Steinberger, who currently heads the City’s Department of Environmental Services, will become the Director of the Department of Design and Construction. He replaces Rae Loui who accepted a position with the State’s Department of Education. Frank J. Doyle, currently the Deputy Director of the Department of Environmental Services, will move up to become the Director of that department, replacing Steinberger. The appointments are effective today.
“Both of these directors have solid backgrounds in their fields,” said Mayor Harris, “and they have both risen through the ranks in the City system. I am confident that each will do a superb job in his new position.”
Steinberger earned a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hawaii and is licensed by the State of Hawaii as a civil engineer. Prior to becoming a Cabinet member, he worked as an engineer within the Department of Wastewater Management. Doyle earned a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from U.H-Manoa and is also licensed by the State. He has been with the City since 1977, and headed the Refuse Division prior to becoming the department’s deputy director.
