FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITY TO BEGIN ROAD RESURFACING ON KALAKAUA AVENUE Motorists are advised that the City will begin resurfacing Kalakaua Avenue, between King Street and Ena Road, between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., from Wednesday, February 4 through Tuesday, February 10, weather permitting. The project is a continuation of the City’s emergency road work effort that has already resurfaced major portions of Beretania Street and Kapiolani Boulevard, and which will target other heavily traveled roadways in Honolulu’s urban core. The work on Kalakaua Avenue will affect the Waikiki-bound lanes and will require closure of at least one lane of traffic in the construction area. Off-duty police officers will assist motorists around the construction zones. Permanent pavement striping and loop detector work will extend into another two to three weeks.
