FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITY TO BEGIN ROAD RESURFACING ON PIIKOI STREET Motorists are advised that the City will begin resurfacing Piikoi Street, between Kapiolani Boulevard and Ala Moana Boulevard, between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., from Tuesday, February 17 through Thursday, February 26, weather permitting. The project is a continuation of the City’s emergency road work effort that has already resurfaced major portions of Beretania Street, Kapiolani Boulevard and Kalakaua Avenue, and which will target other heavily traveled roadways in Honolulu’s urban core. The work on Piikoi Street will affect the makai-bound lanes for the first four days, then the mauka-bound lanes during the remaining four days. At least one lane of traffic will be closed in the construction area. Off-duty police officers will assist motorists around the construction zones. Permanent pavement striping, manhole adjustments and loop detector work will be done after the road resurfacing is completed.
