The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has recognized Ivan Lui-Kwan and the Department of Budget and Fiscal Services for its excellent financial reporting, Mayor Harris announced today.

“We are honored to be among a select group chosen for exceptional financial reporting standards,” said the Mayor.  “Congratulations to Budget Director Lui-Kwan and his dedicated staff for once again reaffirming the high quality of their department’s work.”

The GFOA awarded Honolulu the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, its highest recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.  Honolulu was chosen because of its excellence in “demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read” its comprehensive annual financial report.

In July, the GFOA also selected Honolulu for its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 15,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois and Washington, D.C.
