GREASE AND DEBRIS CAUSE SEWAGE TO OVERLOW FROM
KALIHI MANHOLE

About 2050 gallons of sewage spilled out of a manhole at 1260 Richard Lane and into Kalihi Stream between 4:45 and 6:15 p.m. this evening before City crews stopped it.  The overflow was caused by a blockage of grease and other debris in a sewer line.

The State Department of Health has been notified, and the area has been disinfected and deodorized.  Warning signs have been posted and sampling for contamination is underway.
