GROUNDBREAKING SCHEDULED FOR WAHIAWA
BOTANICAL GARDEN PAVILION

The public is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony for a new multi-purpose pavilion and parking lot at the Wahiawa Botanical Garden Pavilion at 11:00 a.m.on Friday, March 5.

The pavilion, a cluster of three hipped-roof building units joined by a covered walkway, will provide a new entrance to the garden.  Housed within the pavilion will be an information/administration office, restrooms, a kitchen and space for meetings.

The existing parking lot will be reconstructed and landscaped.  Lighting for security and a new sheltered bus stop will be provided.  A new sign identifying the garden will be installed.

Construction is expected to begin this month and be completed by December at a cost of $1.7 million.

This project is the result of years of work by the Wahiawa\Whitmore community Vision Team.  Mary Jane Lee has been the champion for this project.  In supporting this project, one of the visions reached by consensus of the community was to develop the Wahiawa Botanical Garden as an attraction for visitors and residents.
