KAPIOLANI BOULEVARD/KALAKAUA AVENUE INTERSECTION TO BE CLOSED DURING ROAD RESURFACING

Motorists are advised that the intersection of Kapiolani Boulevard and Kalakaua Avenue will be repaved, as part of the Kapiolani Boulevard emergency roadwork effort.

On Wednesday (June 30) the south-bound lanes of Kalakaua Avenue at Kapiolani Boulevard will be paved and on Thursday (July 1) the north-bound lanes of Kalakaua Avenue at Kapiolani Boulevard will be paved.  All through traffic along Kapiolani Boulevard in both the east and westbound direction will be detoured around the affected area during construction hours.  The paving work will be done from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.  Off-duty police officers will assist in guiding the motorists around the construction zone.

Motorists and pedestrians should seek alternate routes and parallel streets to circumvent the area or allow extra travel time to traveling through the area.  Please observe the traffic controls and posted signs; expect detours, lane closures and delays.

The Kapiolani Boulevard project is a continuation of the City's emergency roadwork effort that has already resurfaced major portions of King Street, Beretania Street, Young Street, Piikoi Street, Kaheka Street, Monsarrat Avenue, Puowaina Drive, Tantalus Drive and Kalakaua Avenue.  The City will continue with its emergency repair and contract work on heavily traveled roadways in Honolulu's urban core and the major roads in residential areas.
