ROAD WORK WEEKLY REPORT

 

Scheduled roadwork for the week beginning December 19, 2004, for the Department of Design & Construction. Roadwork is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

 

AHUIMANU

Rehabilitation of Ahuimanu Place (Kahekili Highway to Ahuimanu Road) and Hui Ulili Street (Ahuimanu Place to Hui Iwa Street): Restoration of traffic sensors.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

AIEA

Curb Ramps at Heleconia Place and Moanalua Road: construct new curb ramps and sidewalks.  Install pavement striping and markings.  Adjust utility boxes to new grade.  Upgrade the traffic signal system.

AIKAHI

Curb Ramps at - Halia Street and Kaneohe Bay Drive, Kaneohe Bay Drive and Lale Street:  Construct new curb ramps and sidewalks.  Install striping and markings.

AINA HAINA

Curb Ramps at West Hind Drive/Apo Drive/Nohu Street: Install pavement markings.

HAWAII KAI

Curb Ramps at Lanipuao Street/Kaumakani Street, Kekupua Street/Kaumakani Street.  Install pavement markings.

Curb Ramps at Kawaihae Street and Milolii Place, Hahaione Street and Pepeekeo Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, and AC transitions.  Install striping, markings and markers.

HONOLULU

Curb Ramps at Adams Lane/Bishop Street, Chaplain Lane/Nuuanu Avenue, Fort Street/S. Kukui Street, Queen Emma Square/Queen Emma Street/S. Kukui Street: Install pavement markings.

Curb Ramps at Akoko Street/Cedar Street/South King Street, Artesian Street/South Beretania Street, Artesian Street/South King Street, South King Street/Elsie Lane, South Beretania Street/Farrington Street, Hauoli Street/South King Street, Hoawa Lane/South King Street, Kaheka Street/Rycroff Street, Makiki Street/South Beretania Street, Pawaa Lane/South Beretania Street, Poha Lane/South King Street, South King Street/Elsie Lane/Punahou Street:  Install pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

Ala Wai Boulevard Improvements:  Construct bulbouts and landscaping.

Guardrail Improvements at Alewa Drive at Aulii Street:  Install new guardrails.

Seismic Retrofit of Dillingham Boulevard Bridge over Kapalama Canal:  Install shear keys and carbon composite laminate on the abutments and pile caps.

            (Estimated completion day, January 2005)

 

Kapiolani Boulevard Sewer Emergency Repair:  Sewer work from Atkinson Drive to Pensacola Avenue on Kapiolani Blvd.

(Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

Wheelchair Ramps at Keeaumoku Street and Nehoa Street, Aala Street and Aala Place, River Street and Pauahi Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, AC transitions and traffic signal work.  Install striping and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

King Street Improvements, Phase 3 - North King Street between Liliha Street and Desha Lane and Austin Lane and Morris Lane:  Construction of concrete driveways, sidewalks, curb ramps, planting of trees; construction of street lighting system;

            (Estimated completion date, February 2005)

 

Punchbowl Street Improvements, Phase 2, Punchbowl Street between Ala Moana Boulevard and just beyond King Street:  Modify the traffic signals, streetlights, parking meters, traffic signs, pavement striping, marking and markers to accommodate two-way traffic; reconstruct the curb ramps, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and bus pads; upgrade the sewer and drainage systems; install tree wells, street trees and irrigation system; reconstruct the road pavement and resurface; adjust utility boxes, manholes and street monuments.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2005)

 

Rehabilitation of - Queen Street (Fort Street Mall to Ward Avenue), Laula Way (Elm Street to Rycroft Street), Iolani Avenue (Lusitana Street to Alapai Street), Hookui Street (Auwaiolimu Street to Puowaina Street), Malua Drive (Alewa Drive to Paina Street), Beckley Street (Gulick Avenue to Kalihi Street), and Gulick Avenue (Mauka Ano Lane to School Street):  Reconstruct weakened pavement; cold plane and resurface roadway; adjust utility manholes to grade; and restore vehicle detector loops and pavement striping.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

Rehabilitation of St. Louis Drive, Dole Street, Frank Street, Eugene Place, Alphonse Place, Robert Place, Maigret Street:  Installation of water mains, hydrants & service materials.  Reconstruction and resurfacing of roadway and installation of pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, February 2005)

 

KAILUA

Curb Ramps at Kailua Road, Hoolai Street and Puniu Street, Maluniu Avenue and Uluniu Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, thru gutters, and AC transitions.  Relocate existing signs on new post.  Install striping, markings, and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2005)

 

Kainehe, Hamakua, & Keolu Reconstructed Sewer: CIP work on Kainehe Street and Keolu Drive; Shaft Construction and Microtunneling on Hamakua Drive.

Kalaheo Avenue Reconstructed Sewer, from Kainui Drive to Dune Circle: Road Closure for work on sewerline will be Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  During non-work hours, one lane for northbound traffic along Kalaheo Avenue will be re-opened with the other lane closed as an on-site staging are for equipment.

 

Wheelchair Ramps at - Keolu Drive and Akamai Street, Keolu Drive and Akalani Loop, Keolu Drive and Akahai Street and Akalani Loop, Keolu Drive and Punana Loop and Manulani Street, Keolu Drive and Punana Loop.  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, ac transitions and traffic signal work.  Install striping and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

Guardrail Improvements at Maunawili Road:  Install new guardrails.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2004)

 

Rehabilitation of Streets Mokapu Boulevard, Kaneohe Bay Drive to the Entrance to Kaneohe Marine Base Hawaii.  Reconstruction and resurfacing of roadways, adjustment of utility manholes and installation of permanent pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, February 2005)

 

KAIMUKI

Curb Ramps at Maunaloa Avenue/7th Avenue, Maunaloa Avenue/Paahana Avenue: Demolish and remove existing pavements, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and other incidentals to install new work per plan.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

Curb Ramps at Kaimuki Avenue and Luawai Street, and Luahaka Street and Luawai Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks thru gutter, and AC transitions.  Relocate existing signs on new post.  Install pedestrian push buttons, pullboxes and loops, striping, marking and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2005)

 

KALIHI

Curb Ramps at Kalani Street and Waiakamilo Road:  Construct new curb ramps and sidewalks.  Install pavement striping and markings.  Upgrade the traffic signal system.  Adjust utility boxes to new grade.  Relocate existing signs and posts.

KANEOHE

Rehabilitation of Haiku Road, Heeia Street, Alaloa Street:  Restoration of traffic loop sensors.

MAPUNAPUNA

MOANALUA

Rehabilitation of Streets & Moanalua Water System Improvements:  Ala Aolani Place and portions of Ala Aolani Street, Ala Lani Street and Place, Ala Kiao Place, Ala Iolani Street and Place, Kapulei Street:  Installation of 4 and 8 water mains, reconstruction and resurfacing of roadways, adjustment of utility manholes, installation of pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2005)

 

PEARL CITY

Repaving - Noelani Street from Paaaina to Kaahumanu Street, and Waihona Street and Place from Kamehameha Hwy to the End.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

SALT LAKE

Salt Lake Boulevard Widening Phase 2A, Bougainville Drive to Maluna Street:  Upgrade roadway to include 2 additional lanes in each direction, with designated left and right turning lanes. Provide traffic controls, mass grading, temporary security fencing and electrical overhead lines, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, curb ramps and property adjustments, including demolishing and reconstructing new structures and constructing new walls. Install detention basins, drainage, water, sewer, traffic signal, streetlights, underground electrical system, oil lines, gas lines, pavement striping, markings and markers, and traffic signs, irrigation and landscaping.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

Curb Ramps at Kalaloa Street and Salt Lake Boulevard:  Construct new curb ramps and sidewalks.  Install pavement striping and markings.  Upgrade the traffic signal system.  Adjust utility boxes to new grade.

            (Estimated completion date, February 2005)

 

WAIMANALO

Curb Ramps at Hihimanu Street and Kakaina Street:  Construct new curb ramps and sidewalks.  Adjust street light box to match finish grade.  Install striping and markings.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2005)

 

Rehabilitation of - Kumuhau Street, Kalanianaole Highway to Waikupanaha Street; Mahailua Street, Kumuhau Street to Kakaina Street; Kakaina Street, Mahailua Street to Mekia Street; Nakini Street, Nalu Street to Poliala Street.  Reconstruction and resurfacing of roadways, adjustment of utility manholes and installation of permanent pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, February 2005)

 

WAIPAHU

Village Park Connector Road: Construction of a two-way connector road between Kupuna Loop in Village Park and Loaa Street in Waipahu.  Work includes roadway grading, construction of roadways, sidewalks, curb ramps and CRM and CMU walls; and installation of water lines, drain lines, electrical lines, streetlights, irrigation lines and landscaping.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2005)

 

WAIPIO

Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks:  Waipio Uka Boulevard, Meahale Street, Leko Place, Mahua Place, Mikilana Place, Akeu Place, Pohu Place, Manino Place, Polinahe Place, Mohalu Street, Pulai Street, Nanilihilihi Street,  Noheaiki Street, Nakili Place, Nuao Place, Noheaiki Way, Mele Street, Koliana Street, Waiolina Street, Pupuhi Street, Puana Street, Palaiki Street, Oli Loop, Kahimoe Street, Ohilau Place, Kepakepa Street, Lauwi Place, Ukee Place, Ukee Street:  reconstruct damaged sidewalks.

(Estimated completion date, January 2005)

 

PARADES, WALKS, RACES & OTHER STREET CLOSURES

CHRISTMAS BRUNCH ON KUHIO AVE. STREET FEST sponsored by Waikiki Improvement Assn./C&C Honolulu/GM/New Flyer/Caterpillara.  The event is expected to have 1,000+ participants. Food  and entertainment.  Traffic will be diverted starting 5 am for setup. The event will close Kuhio Avenue, all traffic lanes/sidewalk areas, from Kuamoo Avenue to Namahana St. Namahana St., b/t Kuhio Ave. & Ala Wai Blvd.. will be converted to one way mauka from 5 am to 3 pm.Contact: DTS-TST Div. 527-6009
