ROAD WORK WEEKLY REPORT

Scheduled roadwork for the week beginning January 11, 2004, for the Department of Design & Construction. Roadwork is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

 

HONOLULU

Ala Moana Boulevard Beautification, Kalia Road to Kalakaua Avenue:  Install landscape planting and irrigation system in the median.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2004)

 Black Point Water System Improvements, BWS Job No. 01-013:  Construct new curb ramps, cold mill and resurface asphalt pavement, install pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2004)

Kiwila Street/10th Avenue Reconstructed Sewer: Remove old 6-inch line and install 8-inch line on 10th Avenue.  Excavation, backfilling, repaving, road striping, concrete jacketing and sewer lateral reinstatement.

            (Estimated completion date, January, 2004)

Lunalilo Home Road Improvements from Kalanianaole Highway to Kalakua Street: Construct 10-foot wide curbed median with landscaping and irrigation.  Resurface roadway and install pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2003)

Monsarrat Avenue Road Rehabilitation: Construct new curb ramp, reconstruct and resurface asphalt pavement, install traffic markings.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2004)

Kalakaua Avenue-Keoniana Street, Lewers Street-Aloha Drive, Royal Hawaiian Avenue-Lauula Street, Aloha Drive-Royal Hawaiian Avenue, Royal Hawaiian Avenue-Manukai Street, Seaside Avenue-Lauula Street, Aloha Drive-Seaside Avenue and Kaiulani Avenue-Koa Avenue:  construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, driveways.  Install striping, marking and markers.

Palolo Avenue Water System Improvements, Part I:  Ahinahina Place, Hoanoho Place, Kanekopa Place, Kehau Place, Kekona Place, Kilihune Place, Paliahina Place, Palolo Terrace Place, Uilani Place, Wiliana Place and Palolo Avenue from Waialae Avenue to Kilihune Place.  Cold mill and resurface roadway, adjust utility manholes to grade and install pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2004)

Rehabilitation of Streets - St. Louis Drive, Dole Street, Frank Street, Eugene Place, Alphonse Place, Robert Place, Maigret Street:  Installation of water mains, hydrants & service materials.  Reconstruction and resurfacing of roadway, installation of pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, September 2004)

Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks, Upper Kapahulu Area in Honolulu - Hoohulu Street, Herbert Street, Castle Street, Brokaw Street, Catherine Street, Duval Street, Esther Street, Francis Street, George Street, Hayden Street, James Street, Wela Street, Edna Street, Kepuhi Street, McCorristan Street, Makini Street, Kaunaoa Street, Hinano Street, Lakimau Street, Hollinger Street, Leahi Street, Paki Avenue, Kanaina Ave., Campbell Avenue, Winam Ave., Trousseau Street, Alohea Street, and Monsarrat Avenue: Remove and reconstruct damaged concrete sidewalks, trim street trees and cut and remove tree roots, install root barriers, and adjust utility boxes to new grade.

            (Estimated completion date, April 2004)

Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks, Lower University Avenue and Kapahulu Areas Hihiwai Street, Kamoku Street, Lauiki Street, University Avenue, Date Street, Kaimuki Avenue, Leialoha Avenue, Okokele Avenue, Lukepane Street, Ekela Avenue, Makaleka Avenue, Palani Avenue, Kamuela Avenue, Winam Avenue and Kapahulu Avenue: Demolish and reconstruct damaged concrete sidewalks, trim street trees and cut and remove tree roots, install root barriers, and adjust utility boxes to new grade.

(Estimate completion date, May 2004)

Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit III-97 Mooheau Avenue, Monsarrat Avenue, Booth Road, Nuuanu Avenue, Dole Street and McCully Street:  Reconstruct road pavement, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and driveways.  Construct curb ramps, bus pads and drainage system.  Relocate and/or adjust existing electrical facilities for HECO, Verizon, traffic signal, street light and appurtenances.  Resurface, adjust manhole frame and cover to new grade and restripe.  Install traffic signs.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2004)

 

KAILUA

Kainehe, Hamakua, & Keolu Reconstructed Sewer: CIP work on Kainehe Street and Keolu Drive; Shaft Construction and Microtunneling on Hamakua Drive.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2005)

Kalaheo Avenue Reconstructed Sewer, from Kainui Drive to Dune Circle: Road Closure for work on sewerline will be Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.  During non-work hours, one lane for northbound traffic along Kalaheo Avenue will be re-opened with the other lane closed as an on-site staging are for equipment.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2004)

 

KALIHI

Ahua Street and Kikowaena Street, Ahua Street and Pukuloa Street:  construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, driveways.  Install pedestrian push buttons, pullboxes and loops, striping, marking and markers.

 

MAKIKI

Mott-Smith Drive, Pensacola Street and Makiki Street Sidewalk Improvements: Construct new sidewalks, curb ramps, driveways, curbs, gutters, walls, pavement restoration and and install traffic signs.                  (Estimated completion date, January 2004)

 

MCCULLY

Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks - University Avenue, Algaroba Street, Wiliwili Street, Makahiki Way, Waiola Street, Waiola Way, Paani Street, Citron Street, Fern Street, Hoawa Street, Lime Street, Coolidge Street, and Date Street: Remove and reconstruct concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters, trim street trees and cut and remove tree roots, install root barriers, and adjust utility boxes to new grade.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2004)

 

MILILANI

Rehabilitation of Streets - Kuahelani Avenue and Meheula Avenue:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, driveways.  Install traffic signal system, streetlight system, traffic signs, striping, markings and markers.

Kamehameha Highway Trunk Sewer Reconstruction: Work along Kamehameha Highway in Mililani from Meheula Parkway to Hokuioli Street.

SALT LAKE

Salt Lake Boulevard Widening Phase 2A, Bougainville Drive to Maluna Street:

Upgrade roadway to include 2 additional lanes in each direction, with designated left and right turning lanes. Provide traffic controls, mass grading, temporary security fencing and electrical overhead lines, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, curb ramps and property adjustments, including demolishing and reconstructing new structures and constructing new walls. Install detention basins, drainage, water, sewer, traffic signal, streetlights, underground electrical system, oil lines, gas lines, pavement striping, markings and markers, and traffic signs, irrigation and landscaping.

            (Estimated completion date, July 2004)

 

PARADES, WALKS, RACES & OTHER STREET CLOSURES

BOB & RON'S 5K RUN sponsored by the RRCA/Mid-Pacific Roadrunners Club.  The event is expected to have 300 runners.  The event will start at Monsarrat Ave.,across Waikiki Shell, to Monsarrat Ave., to makai jog path of Paki Ave.,  to Poni Moi path, to Kalakaua path (2 loops),  finish at Hon Marathon finish line.  Contact:  John Simonds 373-3609

BRUNCH ON THE BEACH STREET FESTIVAL sponsored by the Waikiki Improvement Assn./C&C Honolulu.  The event is expected to have 5,000+ participants.  Traffic will be diverted starting 2:30 am for setup. Traffic will be diverted starting 5:30 pm. There will be 5 lion dance groups visiting various businesses in area bounded by River St., on west side, Beretania St., on north side, Nuuanu Ave., on east side, & Nimitz Hwy. on south side.
