ROAD WORK WEEKLY REPORT

 

Scheduled roadwork for the week beginning October 3, 2004, for the Department of Design & Construction. Roadwork is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

 

AHUIMANU

Rehabilitation of Ahuimanu Place (Kahekili Highway to Ahuimanu Road) and Hui Ulili Street (Ahuimanu Place to Hui Iwa Street): Reconstruction and resurfacing of roadways, adjustment of utility manholes and installation of permament pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2004)

 

AIEA

Curb Ramps at Kalaloa Street and Ohekani Loop (North):  Construct new curb ramps and sidewalks.  Relocate existing signs and post.  Install existing street signs on new posts.  Install striping and markings.

AINA HAINA

Curb Ramps at West Hind Drive/Apo Drive/Nohu Street: Demolish and remove existing pavements, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and other incidentals to install new work per plan.

HAWAII KAI

Curb Ramps at Lanipuao Street/Kaumakani Street, Kekupua Street/Kaumakani Street.  Demolish and remove existing pavements, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and other incidentals to install new work per plan.

HONOLULU

Curb Ramps at Adams Lane/Bishop Street, Chaplain Lane/Nuuanu Avenue, Fort Street/S. Kukui Street, Queen Emma Square/Queen Emma Street/S. Kukui Street: Demolish and remove existing pavements, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and other incidentals to install new work per plan.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2004)

 

Curb Ramps at Akoko Street/Cedar Street/South King Street, Artesian Street/South Beretania Street, Artesian Street/South King Street, South King Street/Elsie Lane, South Beretania Street/Farrington Street, Hauoli Street/South King Street, Hoawa Lane/South King Street, Kaheka Street/Rycroff Street, Makiki Street/South Beretania Street, Pawaa Lane/South Beretania Street, Poha Lane/South King Street, South King Street/Elsie Lane/Punahou Street:Demolish and remove existing pavements, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and other incidentals to install new work per plan.

Ala Wai Boulevard Improvements:  Construct bulbouts and landscaping.

Miscellaneous Guardrail Improvements at - Alewa Drive at Aulii Street:  Install new guardrails.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2004)

 

Curb Ramps at – Holokahana Lane and Liliha Street, North School Street and Stillman Lane, Iwilei Road, Kuwili Street and Pine Street, Merchant Street and Nuuanu Avenue:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, and AC transitions.  Relocate existing signs and posts.  Install loops, striping, marking and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2005)

 

Emergency Resurfacing of Kapiolani Boulevard from Kalakaua Avenue to Date Street:  Reconstruction and asphalt resurfacing, permanent pavement marking to be performed at night Monday thru Friday, 7 pm to 5am.  Adjustment of utility manholes and installation of traffic loop sensors, Monday thru Friday 9:00 am to 3 pm.

            (Estimated completion date, September 2004)

 

Kapiolani Boulevard Sewer Emergency Repair:  Sewer work from Atkinson Drive to Pensacola Avenue on Kapiolani Blvd.

(Estimated completion date, October 2004)

 

Maunakea Street Sidewalk Improvements: Reconstruct curb, gutter, and sidewalk on Maunakea Street between Beretania Street and King Street. Work includes installation of new granite tile surface sidewalks, signs, utility boxes, and roadway resurfacing.

            (Estimated completion date, October 2004)

 

Rehabilitation of Piikoi Street from Kapiolani Boulevard to Matlock Avenue:  Reconstruction of curbs and gutters, adjustment of utility covers, pruning of trees, curb ramp construction and resurfacing of roadways.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

Punchbowl Street Improvements, Phase 2, Punchbowl Street between Ala Moana Boulevard and just beyond King Street:  Modify the traffic signals, streetlights, parking meters, traffic signs, pavement striping, marking and markers to accommodate two-way traffic; reconstruct the curb ramps, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and bus pads; upgrade the sewer and drainage systems; install tree wells, street trees and irrigation system; reconstruct the road pavement and resurface; adjust utility boxes, manholes and street monuments.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2005)

 

Rehabilitation of - Queen Street (Fort Street Mall to Ward Avenue), Laula Way (Elm Street to Rycroft Street), Iolani Avenue (Lusitana Street to Alapai Street), Hookui Street (Auwaiolimu Street to Puowaina Street), Malua Drive (Alewa Drive to Paina Street), Beckley Street (Gulick Avenue to Kalihi Street), and Gulick Avenue (Mauka Ano Lane to School Street):  Reconstruct weakened pavement; cold plane and resurface roadway; adjust utility manholes to grade; and restore vehicle detector loops and pavement striping.

            (Estimated completion date, October 2004)

 

Rehabilitation of St. Louis Drive, Dole Street, Frank Street, Eugene Place, Alphonse Place, Robert Place, Maigret Street:  Installation of water mains, hydrants & service materials.  Reconstruction and resurfacing of roadway and installation of pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, February 2005)

 

KAILUA

Kainehe, Hamakua, & Keolu Reconstructed Sewer: CIP work on Kainehe Street and Keolu Drive; Shaft Construction and Microtunneling on Hamakua Drive.

Kalaheo Avenue Reconstructed Sewer, from Kainui Drive to Dune Circle: Road Closure for work on sewerline will be Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.  During non-work hours, one lane for northbound traffic along Kalaheo Avenue will be re-opened with the other lane closed as an on-site staging are for equipment.

 

Miscellaneous Guardrail Improvements at Maunawili Road:  Install new guardrails.

Rehabilitation of Streets – Mokapu Boulevard, Kaneohe Bay Drive to the Entrance to Kaneohe Marine Base Hawaii.  Reconstruction and resurfacing of roadways, adjustment of utility manholes and installation of permanent pavement markings.

KAIMUKI

Curb Ramps at Maunaloa Avenue/7th Avenue, Maunaloa Avenue/Paahana Avenue: Demolish and remove existing pavements, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and other incidentals to install new work per plan.

KANEOHE

Rehabilitation of Haiku Road, Heeia Street, Alaloa Street: Reconstruction and resurfacing of roadways, adjustment of utility manholes and installation of permanent pavement markings.

MAPUNAPUNA

Curb Ramps at - Lagoon Drive and Ualena Street and Waiwai Loop:  Construct new curb ramps and sidewalks.  Relocate existing sign on new post.  Install striping and markings.

MOANALUA

Curb Ramps at Ala Mahamoe Street and Onipaa Street: Construct new curb ramps and sidewalks.  Relocate existing sign and post.  Install striping, markings, and markers.

PEARL CITY

Seismic Retrofit of City Bridges - Komo Mai Drive Bridge over Waimano Stream near Children’s House School:  Install concrete shear keys on the abutments.

SALT LAKE

Curb Ramps at - Ala Napunani Street and Ala Puumalu Place, Ala Napunani Street and Ala Opeha Place:  Construct new curb ramps and sidewalks.  Replace existing HTCO pullbox with new Verizon pullbox.  Install striping, markings, and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2005)

 

Salt Lake Boulevard Widening Phase 2A, Bougainville Drive to Maluna Street:  Upgrade roadway to include 2 additional lanes in each direction, with designated left and right turning lanes. Provide traffic controls, mass grading, temporary security fencing and electrical overhead lines, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, curb ramps and property adjustments, including demolishing and reconstructing new structures and constructing new walls. Install detention basins, drainage, water, sewer, traffic signal, streetlights, underground electrical system, oil lines, gas lines, pavement striping, markings and markers, and traffic signs, irrigation and landscaping.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2004)

 

WAIMANALO

Rehabilitation of - Kumuhau Street, Kalanianaole Highway to Waikupanaha Street; Mahailua Street, Kumuhau Street to Kakaina Street; Kakaina Street, Mahailua Street to Mekia Street; Nakini Street, Nalu Street to Poliala Street.  Reconstruction and resurfacing of roadways, adjustment of utility manholes and installation of permanent pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, February 2005)

 

WAIPAHU

Village Park Connector Road: Construction of a two-way connector road between Kupuna Loop in Village Park and Loaa Street in Waipahu.  Work includes roadway grading, construction of roadways, sidewalks, curb ramps and CRM and CMU walls; and installation of water lines, drain lines, electrical lines, streetlights, irrigation lines and landscaping.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2005)

 

WAIPIO

Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks:  Waipio Uka Boulevard, Meahale Street, Leko Place, Mahua Place, Mikilana Place, Akeu Place, Pohu Place, Manino Place, Polinahe Place, Mohalu Street, Pulai Street, Nanilihilihi Street,  Noheaiki Street, Nakili Place, Nuao Place, Noheaiki Way, Mele Street, Koliana Street, Waiolina Street, Pupuhi Street, Puana Street, Palaiki Street, Oli Loop, Kahimoe Street, Ohilau Place, Kepakepa Street, Lauwi Place, Ukee Place, Ukee Street:  reconstruct damaged sidewalks.

(Estimated completion date, January 2005)

 

PARADES, WALKS, RACES & OTHER STREET CLOSURES

NIKETOWN 5K RUN/WALK sponsored by Niketown Honolulu. The event is expected to have 6,000 runners.  It will start at Kalakaua Ave./Olohana St., to Kalakaua Ave., to Monsarrat Ave., to Paki Ave., to Kapahulu Ave., to Kalakaua Ave., end on Kalakaua Ave./Kalaimoku St. Kalakaua Ave. all lanes will be closed and traffic diverted to Kuhio Ave. at approx 6:30 am. MEN'S MARCH AGAINST VIOLENCE sponsored by Catholic Charities/C&C of Honolulu.
