SEASIDE AVENUE TOUR BUS AND FREIGHT LOADING MOVED

Changes to the tour bus and freight loading area pattern on Seaside Avenue will be made to accommodate construction for the Kuhio Avenue improvement project.  Starting July 6, 2004, the following restrictions will be in effect for Seaside Avenue between Kalakaua Avenue and Kuhio Avenue:

  • TOUR BUSES will be allowed to stage and load between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. in six (6) marked bus spaces on the Koko Head (east) curbside.  No other uses of these spaces will be permitted during this time.  Tour bus loading on Kuhio Avenue between Seaside Avenue and Kanekapolei Street will not be permitted at any time.

  • FREIGHT LOADING will continue to be allowed on the Ewa (west) curbside of Seaside Avenue.  Freight loading on the Koko Head (east) curbside will be allowed only from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

In addition, the following new freight loading zones will be established as follows:

  • For 60 feet along the Koko Head (east) curbside of Seaside Avenue mauka (north) of Kuhio Avenue.

  • Along the Koko Head (east) curbside of Namahana Street between Kuhio Avenue and Ala Wai Boulevard.

Those who need to load or unload in these areas of Waikiki are encouraged to plan accordingly.  Citations will be issued for violations.  The City’s Department of Transportation Services is informing the tour, freight and courier industry and companies through the HTA newsletter, direct faxes, and by distributing flyers to drivers using the loading areas.  For more information, call the Department of Transportation Services at 527-6978.
