ANOTHER WASTEWATER SPILL REPORTED

          A sixth wastewater spill has been reported in the wake of today’s heavy rains.

          Between 5,000 and 7,000 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled at the Aliamanu No. 2 Wastewater Pumping Station at 4230 Salt Lake Boulevard. Runoff from the heavy rains caused the station’s wetwell to overflow. Most of it ran into a storm drain system that discharges into Salt Lake. The spill occurred between 2:45 and 4:55 p.m. 

          The state Department of Health has been notified and pollution warning signs are being posted.

Water quality sampling will be conducted to assess the impact of the spill. The public is advised to avoid the affected areas.
