CITY EXPANDS BULKY ITEM PICKUP TO NORTH SHORE

            The City has expanded regularly scheduled bulky item pickup to the North Shore. Residents from Waialua to Sunset should put their bulky discards out at the curb at 6 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. This month, that will be tomorrow, October 12.

            This is the third area of rural Oahu where the City is now offering regularly scheduled bulky item pickup.

            “Expanding bulky item pickup service has been one of my priorities,” said Mayor Mufi Hannemann. “Since we took office in January, we extended monthly bulky item pickup to the Leeward Coast in March and Koolauloa from Kahuku to Kahaluu in August. Now we have included the North Shore. We plan to bring this service to the rest of Oahu – from Halawa to Wahiawa and Kaneohe to Waimanalo – early next year.

“This way we help to discourage illegal dumping and bring about equity with other residents who have had monthly bulky item pickup for many years,” said Hannemann.
