CITY EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR WOMEN FIRE FIGHTING WORKSHOP
The deadline has been extended for signing up for a City-sponsored workshop aimed at women who might be considering careers as fire fighters.
The free, four-hour workshop, “Can You Take the Heat?” will be held on June 11.
Two sessions will be held, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Fire Department training center. Space is limited. To reserve a seat, access http://www4.honolulu.gov/cityhallonline and click on the link “Women in Firefighting Workshop,” or call 527-5571. Reservations must be submitted by 4 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2005.
The workshop aims to encourage women to apply for fire fighter jobs with the City. The city will be accepting applications for fire fighter recruits -- from June 12 through June 16 -- for the first time in more than three years.
The workshop is sponsored by the Honolulu Fire Department, Department of Human Resources and Department of Community Services-Oahu WorkLinks.
