CITY FILM OFFICE EARNS MARKETING HONORS
An ad campaign by the City and County of Honolulu’s Film Office has been awarded second place for excellence in marketing in a prestigious international competition.
The award from the Association of Film Commissioners International was presented at that organization’s Locations Trade Show in Los Angeles last month. The Locations show is the largest gathering in the film commission industry. Participation in the awards is open to the more than 300 film offices around the world. Honolulu’s second-place award was in the category of color or black and white ad series/campaign. The Honolulu Film Office’s entry included ads for “50 First Dates,” “Tears of the Sun,” and “LOST.”
In addition, the Film Offices of the Hawaiian Islands – a collaboration of film offices of the City, the state of Hawaii and the other counties – took third-place honors for best theme in the booth award.
“The film industry is a vital part of Honolulu’s economy,” said Mayor Hannemann. “Last year, it created between 750 and 1,000 jobs of varying duration. These awards constitute well-deserved recognition for Honolulu Film Commissioner Walea Constantinau and her state and Neighbor Island colleagues.”
