CREWS REPAIR BROKEN WATER MAIN AT ALA MOANA BEACH PARK

            The concessions, restrooms and showers at Ala Moana Beach Park are temporarily closed today while repairs are made to a ruptured 12-inch water main that serves the park.

Crews from the Honolulu Board of Water Supply are doing the repair work with support from  the Department of Parks and Recreation.

The main break was discovered this morning by parks workers. It apparently originated in a patch on the 12-inch main near the Diamond Head end of the park.

Initially only the facilities on that end of the park were closed. However, the repairs required closing off water to all of the facilities in the park. Repairs on the break were almost completed as of 2 p.m. The park facilities will reopen as the water system is recharged.
