FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEJanuary 6, 2005
HANNEMANN STICKS BY CABINET APPOINTEES Throughout the campaign and since taking office, Mayor Hannemann has promised to have an open and responsive administration. Today, in response to questions raise by reporters, Mayor Hannemann defended his selection of John Reed as Managing Director and Pat Kubota for deputy director of the Department of Budget and Fiscal Services. Hannemann talked with both men one-on-one. And each of them assured him that they have acted aboveboard in their dealings in positions they’ve held before. John Reed says there is no truth to any of the allegations made against him in a lawsuit filed back in 2003. And Pat Kubota worked for Unity House more than two years ago, and is now cooperating fully in the investigation that’s currently underway of that organization. He says he’s been assured that he is not the target of that investigation. Hannemann said both men are more than qualified for the positions for which he’s asked them to serve. -30- |
