FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 12, 2005 Release No. M-55 JASMINE TRIAS JOINS MAYOR HANNEMANN TO ENCOURAGE USE OF CITY ON-LINE SERVICES Mayor Mufi Hannemann honored Jasmine Trias, Hawaii’s own American Idol, today (Friday, Aug. 12) for helping the City in its “Save Time, Go On-Line” campaign. The mayor presented a Certificate of Recognition to Jasmine for helping the City reach out to residents and new drivers about the advantage of using the City’s on-line services. Jasmine volunteered and helped the City by appearing in two public service announcements (PSA). One 30-second PSA featured Mayor Hannemann and Jasmine at a computer showing residents how to go on-line to do motor vehicle related business. Residents can get personalized license plates, renew their registration and do other transactions from any computer that has internet access. A second PSA targeting the youth of “We thank Jasmine for taking the time to help us get the word out that they can go on-line and save time standing in line,” said the mayor. Other outreach and educational materials were produced to complement the PSAs. A bus poster featuring Jasmine was also designed to remind everyone about the City’s new on-line service. In addition, the City Department of Customer Services has prepared a brochure on the new service that will be distributed to Driver Education Classes across the island. The brochure included tips from the City’s driver license examiners on how to pass the road test. Cyber surfers can go to the website www.honolulu.gov, and click on “on-line service” to do transactions and pay for services that normally would have to be done in person. -30- Contact: Salvatore Lanzilotti, Director, Department of Customer Services, 523-4834 |
