Mayor Mufi Hannemann today announced the appointment of Wayne M. Hashiro to be director of the Department of Design and Construction. The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Honolulu City Council. Hashiro succeeds Tim Steinberger, an appointee of the previous administration who remained an extra month at the mayor’s request. Hashiro, a longtime civil engineer and manager with the Army Corps of Engineers, was appointed deputy director of the Department of Design and Construction early last month. “In that short time, He added, “We thank Tim Steinberger for staying on to help us through the transition.” Hashiro is 57 years old and a native of His career includes 17 years with the Corps of Engineers here, in Hashiro served as a congressional fellow for U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka in 1994-95. -30- |
