MAYOR ASKS CITY COUNCIL TO NAME

CENTRAL OAHU FACILITY ‘VETERANS’ MEMORIAL AQUATIC CENTER

The City Council Parks Committee today recommended that the full Council approve Mayor Mufi Hannemann’s proposal to name the new swimming pool complex at Central Oahu Regional Park the Veterans’ Memorial Aquatic Center.

“It is only fitting that we pay tribute to military veterans in our community with this world-class aquatic facility,” said Hannemann. “We have consulted with various veterans groups and received their support for this proposal.

“This will be a fitting way to honor the sacrifice and service of those who have gone into harm’s way on behalf of this nation.”

The administration is asking the City Council to approve a resolution that formalizes the name and provides for the placement of appropriate signs.
