FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                             December 28, 2005

As we greet 2006 with our traditional festivities and family gatherings, let us also pause to reflect on the past year and give thanks for the good fortune that has been bestowed upon us.

We enjoy the beauty of life in Hawaii, distinctive and enriching cultural diversity, and unparalleled social and economic opportunity.  Our nation is a beacon of hope and liberty to persons throughout the world.

And so it is with profound gratitude that I welcome the New Year and all the promise that it brings.  I know 2006 will be filled with all the wonderful things that life in the islands can offer, and hope providence will continue to shine on you and yours during the New Year.

Happy New Year to all of you from Gail and me and the entire Hannemann ohana. Hauoli Makahiki Hou.
