MAYOR SCHEDULES MAINLAND TRIP

            Mayor Mufi Hannemann today informed the City Council that he is leaving on a week-long trip to the Mainland on March 1, 2005, and returning on March 8.

            The mayor will be participating in the 35^th National Session of the Mayors’ Institute on City Design at Charleston, South Carolina. He is one of only eight mayors invited to the session. Expenses are being paid by the institute. The Mayors’ Institute on City Design is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the American Archtectural Foundation.

          Mayor Hannemann is also scheduled to go to Los Angeles and meet with officials there about transportation and solid waste issues, and to San Francisco, where he will meet with officials of the federal Enviromental Protection Agency about wastewater issues.

          In his absence, Budget Director-designate Mary Pat Waterhouse will be acting mayor.
