MORE WASTEWATER SPILLS REPORTED

          Another wastewater spill has been reported in the wake of today’s heavy rains.

          An estimated 10,000 gallons of raw sewage overflowed from a manhole at 5703-L Kalanianaole Highway between 1 and 7 p.m. The state Department of Health has been notified and samples will be taken for testing from nearby waters. Warning signs will be posted.

         That brings the number of wastewater spills reported on Oahu today to five. All have been stopped or are about to stop. 

         The spill at the Waimanalo Treatment Plant ended about 8 p.m. Less than 1,000 gallons of wastewater are believed to have spilled from the plants inundated injection wells. Some of the treated wastewater ran off into an adjacent ravine.
