REHABILITATION OF DILLINGHAM BOULEVARD RESUMES NEXT WEEK

Motorists are advised that reconstruction and resurfacing of a short stretch of Dillingham Boulevard, from Kohou Street to Kokea Street, will begin Monday, April 11, 2005.

Both east-bound lanes and turn lanes on Dillingham Boulevard will be reconstructed and resurfaced.  The work is expected to take about one month, weather permitting. The rest of Dillingham Boulevard was resurfaced in the past two years. This particular stretch includes the bridge over Kapalama Canal. The road work was not previously completed because the Board of Water Supply was doing work on a main there.

Work on the project will be performed on weekdays.  Lowering of manholes and other utility structures will begin Monday, April 11, in preparation for the resurfacing.  Roadway milling and asphalt resurfacing will be performed at night between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.  That is expected to last about two days.  Final adjustment of utility structures to grade, permanent pavement marking and installation of traffic detector loops will follow, weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Motorists are urged to use alternate routes.  Those who must drive through the work area should allow additional travel time and expect delays and lane closures.

Special-duty police officers will assist in guiding motorists around the work zone.
