SEWAGE SPILL REPORTED AT PEARLRIDGE

            Crews from the City Department of Environmental Services responded last night to a sewage spill at Pearlridge.

An estimated 1,100 gallons of untreated sewage overflowed from a manhole at 98-755 Iho Place. Environmental Services Department crews responded at 6:15 p.m. and secured the spill by 9 p.m.

They said the spill was caused by intrusive tree roots that blocked an 8-inch sewer main. Some of the overflow entered a nearby storm drain.

The state Department of Health has been notified.  Pollution warning signs will be posted. 

            Waters of where the storm drain system empties into Pearl Harbor will be sampled. The public is advised to avoid the area.
