‘SUNSET’ EVENTS AID OPERATION KATRINA KOKUA

Mayor Mufi Hannemann announced that City volunteers will be at Sunset on the Beach and Rediscover Oahu events throughout September for Operation Katrina Kokua, his drive to collect donations for the American Red Cross for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

“We collected more than $2,000 at Waikiki for Monday’s Sunset on the Beach honoring the Little League World Series champions,” said Hannemann. “We plan to raise much more in the weeks to come to help the hundreds of thousands of people on the Gulf Coast whose lives were torn apart by the hurricane.”

An Operation Katrina Kokua booth will be set up this weekend for the Rediscover Oahu – Sunset at the Park in Waimanalo.

Donations will also be collected at next Wednesday’s special Sunset on the Beach in Waikiki for the season premier of ABC’s “Lost” and the Sunset on the Beach events Sept. 17 and 18 in Waikiki.

In addition, Operation Katrina Kokua will be at the Rediscover Oahu Sunset at the Park in Kapolei on Oct. 1 and 2.
