CITY BEGINS 2006-2007 NATIONAL ELKS

HOOP SHOOT COMPETITION

            The City and County of Honolulu announces the 2006-07 National Elks Hoop Shoot Competition will begin at various parks on Oahu during the Fall 2006 Program.

            The contest involves 25 free throws for boys and girls in age groups 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 years.  The winners in each category will advance to the city-wide competition on December 2.  Winners from this level continue to advance to the state, regional and national competitions.

            The annual Hoop Shoot Competition is sponsored by the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks (Honolulu, Kailua and Pearl City Lodges) in conjunction with the Department of Parks and Recreation.
