GRANT PROPOSALS FOR NEW ARTISTIC WORKS ACCEPTED THROUGH SEPTEMBER 29
There is still time for non-profit organizations on Oahu to submit applications for the Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts 2006 Grant Production Awards. Grants for the creation of new artistic works are available up to $5,000. The proposal submission deadline is 4:30 p.m., on Friday, September 29, 2006.
Grants are available in the following fields: dance, theater, music, and literature and will be awarded to tax-exempt, charitable 501(c)(3) organizations (as defined by the Internal Revenue Service) within the City and County of Honolulu. The proposal must be for projects that benefit the people of Oahu. Grant proposals must be for projects occurring from December 1, 2006 to November 31, 2007.
“Past awardees have created wonderful works that showcase the artistic richness of our Honolulu,” said Mayor Hannemann. “I am hopeful more community organizations will use this opportunity to join the city in celebrating the arts.”
Only one grant will be awarded to an organization in any one fiscal year (July to June). Funds are not granted for scholarship programs, to benefit individuals, or for religious programs. Grants are generally not approved for conferences, festivals, or for operating support.
Proposals must be hand-delivered or mailed by Friday, September 29, 2006 to the Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts, 530 South King Street, Room 404, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813. Hand-delivered proposals must be submitted during normal business hours: Monday through Friday between 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
