FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                 October 13, 2006

Beginning. Monday, October 16, 2006, the City will operate a special shuttle bus in Haleiwa because of the temporary closure of the Anahulu Rainbow Bridge.

The bridge is scheduled to be closed for about 10 days for reconstruction work, as was previously announced.

In order to continue providing service to Haleiwa during the temporary bridge closure and minimize schedule delays to Route 52, Wahiawa-Circle Island, TheBus will operate a Route 52 special shuttle bus from Weed Junction, through Haleiwa Town via Kamehameha Highway, and turn around at the Haleiwa Boat Harbor

  • Special shuttle hours will be weekdays from 4:10 a.m. to 9:45 p.m., and weekends from 5:30 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.

  • Connections from the shuttle to and from Route 52, Wahiawa-Circle Island in the eastbound and westbound directions will be made at the Weed Junction bus stop.

  • No City bus service will be provided on Kamehameha Highway from Haleiwa Road to the Waimea end of the Kamehameha/Joseph P. Leong Highway.

  • During the “special” Route 52 Haleiwa shuttle operations, Route 52 Wahiawa-Circle Island will only operate to and from the Weed Junction intersection via the Joseph P. Leong Highway.  All other trips will be scheduled to service Haleiwa Town via Kamehameha Highway, Haleiwa Road and Waialua Beach Road.
