FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 14, 2006 Release No. M-115-06 MAYOR SIGNS TWO BILLS INTO LAW Mayor Mufi Hannemann has signed into law the following bills: · Bill 61, CD 1, relating to the leasing of property acquired by eminent domain proceedings. The bill clarifies when a lease may be renewed or extended for more than one year for real property that the City acquires by eminent domain but does not plan to immediately use. · Bill 63, CD 1, providing for the cost of improvements for improvement district no. 276, Kailua Road Sewers, and fixing the portions of the cost to be assessed against the benefited properties. The project involves installing sewers along a short stretch of The owners of 15 private parcels in the project area will be assessed $124,869.10 to help pay for the improvements. By law, improvement district assessments are based on rates of 25 cents per square foot for residential property and 37 cents per square foot for apartment property.
