OAHU CIVIL DEFENSE TO TEST

LEANINI BEACH PARK SYSTEM

     The Oahu Civil Defense Agency in conjunction with the State Civil Defense will conduct a test of the Siren Warning System located at Leanani Beach Park in the Kahaluu area  just off Leanani Drive on Friday, September 22, 2006 beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing through the morning.

     The test is in response to calls from concerned citizens who reported that the Leanani Beach Park siren unit did not function properly when tested on September 1^st, 2006.

     During the monthly statewide siren test, it is not unusual for sirens to malfunction because of various problems.  These sirens are quickly identified and technicians are dispatched immediately to correct the problem.

     In addition to the siren and Emergency Alert System (EAS) broadcasts, police, fire, and Civil Defense can use vehicle public address systems to disseminate emergency or evacuation information throughout Oahu neighborhoods.

     No emergency actions are required during this test.  Should Oahu residents experience problems with their area siren during regular monthly testing please report it to Oahu Civil Defense at 523-4121.
