FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 30, 2006 RELIEF OFFERED FOR DELAYED VEHICLE RENEWALSThe City Department of Customer Services has learned that delivery has been inexplicably delayed for some vehicle registration renewals that were submitted by the owners in early June. Owners submitted the renewals by mail or on-line, and the renewals were processed June 8, 9, 13 and 14 by the City’s contractor, the Irwin Hudson Company of “The contractor has confirmed that those renewals were mailed on June 14 and 15 but apparently were delayed,” said Jeff Coelho, Director of Customer Services. “We’re not sure what caused the delay, and we’re not pointing fingers, but we will identify the problem.” Some owners reported receiving their renewals today, so other affected vehicle owners are advised to check the mail today and tomorrow. The City is providing duplicate license emblems and registration renewals to those owners who have not received theirs in the mail. Some have already been sent out.
