FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 16, 2006 Scheduled roadwork for the week beginning March 19, 2006, for the Department of Design construction, Civil Division (Construction Management Branch), and Wastewater Division (Construction Management Branch). Roadwork is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted. ALEWA Curb Ramps at Gulick Avenue/North School Street, Hala Drive/Makuahine Street, Hauiki Street/North School Street, Kino Street/North School Street, Linapuni Street/North School Street, Makuahine Street/North School Street: Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition. Install pedestrian push buttons, pull boxes, vehicle detector loops, striping, marking and markers. (Estimated completion date, August 2006) EWA (Estimated completion date, March 2006) Fort Weaver Road Reconstructed Sewer – Pohakupuna Road (from Poloula Place to Fort Weaver Road & Fort Weaver Road (from Pohakupuna Road to Nalomele Place) Estimated completion date, September 2006) HALEIWA Bridge Rehabilitation at Anahulu Stream: Remove deteriorated concrete and reinforcement, reconstruct and repair areas, modify existing railings and paint structure. (Estimated completion date, June 2006) HONOLULU Curb Ramps at Alakea Street/Merchant Street, Alakea Street/Queen Street, Bethel Street/Merchant Street, Bishop Street/Merchant Street, Halekauwila Street/Mililani Street, Maunakea Street/North Kukui Street, Merchant Street/Richards Street, Mililani Street/Queen Street, North Kukui Street/Nuuanu Street, North Kukui/River Street, Pauahi Street/Nuuanu Avenue, Queen Street/Richards Street, Queen Emma Street/Vineyard Street: Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, AC transitions. Install pedestrian push buttons, pull boxes, vehicle detector loops, striping, marking and markers. (Estimated completion date, August 2006) Emergency Repair of Beretania Street between (Estimated completion date, March 2006) Rehabilitation of Harding Avenue from 1st Avenue to Luawai Street, 6th Avenue from Harding Avenue to Palolo Avenue, Leahi Avenue from Kapahulu Avenue to Noela Street, 5th Avenue from Harding Avenue to Dead End: The work primarily consists of reconstruction, milling and resurfacing the roadways. Also, included is the reconstruction of some concrete curbs, gutters, driveways, aprons, sidewalks, and some new drainage improvements. Installation of pavements, markings, traffic sensors and adjustment of utility covers to grade will complete the project. (Estimated completion date, May 2006) King Street Improvements, Phase 3 - North King Street between Liliha Street and Desha Lane and Austin Lane and Morris Lane: Construction of concrete driveways, sidewalks, curb ramps, planting of trees; construction of street lighting system. Pending revised scope of work. Trees to be deleted. (Estimated completion date, March 2006) Curb Ramps at Liliha Street/Kuakini Street and Liliha Street/Bates Street: Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, AC transitions and driveways. (Estimated completion date, March 2006) Punchbowl Street Improvements, Phase I – Reconstruct curb ramps, update traffic signal system and restripe pavement markings at KAILUA Kainehe, Hamakua, & Keolu Reconstructed Sewer: CIP work on Kainehe Street and Keolu Drive; Shaft Construction and Microtunneling on Hamakua Drive. Kalaheo Avenue Reconstructed Sewer, from Kainui Drive to Kuulei Road: Road Closure for work on sewerline will be Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks, Kailua Area – Kuulei Road, Uluniu Street, Kainehe Street, Kailua Road, Hahani Street, Hoolai Street, Aulike Street: Removal and reconstruction of damaged concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter areas, trimming of trees and cutting and removal of tree roots where the roots have damaged the areas, installing root barriers were required, and adjustment of utility boxes to new sidewalk grades, and other incidental related work. (Estimated completion date, May 2006) KALIHI Curb Ramps at Kalihi Street/Lehua Street, Kalihi Street/Kuikele Street: Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transitions. Install pedestrian push buttons and striping. (Estimated completion date, August 2006) KANEOHE Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks, Kaneohe Area: Alaloa Street, Haiku Road, Kahuhipa Street, Kamehameha Highway, Kawa Street, Mehana Street: Removal and reconstruction of damaged concrete sidewalk, curb, and gutter areas; trimming of trees and cutting and removal of tree roots where the roots have damaged the area; installing root barriers where required; and adjustment of utility boxes to new sidewalk grades.
