FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 27, 2006 SEWAGE SPILL REPORTED IN KAPOLEI Workers from the Department of Environment Services responded this afternoon to a spill of an estimated 1,905 gallons of untreated wastewater from a sewer line on Wastewater was reported overflowing from three manholes on Kalaeloa at 1:15 p.m. City workers found an underground 10-inch pipe partially blocked by a grease build-up and cleared it by 2:45 p.m. Some of the spilled wastewater entered a nearby drainage canal and storm drain system, where it was confined. City crews removed the spilled wastewater and disinfected the area. Warning signs are being posted along the canal and the public is advised to avoid the area.
