MAYOR SIGNS BILL 74 INTO LAW Mayor Mufi Hannemann today signed into law Bill 74 (2007), C.D. 1, which repeals Section 8-2.1(d) of the Revised Ordinances of Honolulu. That provision had allowed property taxpayers to voluntarily donate $1 or more for natural resource land conservation purposes. The ordinance was obviated by the voters’ approval in 2006 of City Charter amendments allocating a half-percent of real property tax revenues into a Clean Water and Natural Lands Fund and another half-percent into an Affordable Housing Fund. The law took effect upon its approval and will apply to tax years beginning July 1, 2009. Contact Bill Brennan, 527-6928 |
