FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 17, 2007
CITY AND PARTNERS TEAM UP FOR EARTH DAY
For Earth Day 2007, the City Department of Environmental Services is partnering with various government and non-government agencies on weekend activities ranging from stream and park cleanups to fish stocking and trail repairs.
“Keeping pollutants from entering our waters with storm runoff is a vital part of our effort to create a sustainable future for Oahu based on the 21st Century Ahupua‘a,” said Mayor Mufi Hannemann.
Iwalani Sato, the City’s Storm Water Quality outreach coordinator, said, “Volunteers may still sign up to participate in this weekend’s events. However, anyone can be an everyday environmental hero by taking care not to let pollution enter our storm drain system.”
