CITY SCHEDULES ADDITIONAL BUSES FOR

SATURDAY’S DON HO MEMORIAL SERVICE  

            The City will provide supplemental bus service to and from Waikiki on Saturday, May 5, 2007, to accommodate the large numbers of people expected to attend the memorial celebration for entertainer Don Ho.

            The buses will operate before and after the service and musical tribute to the legendary performer, who died on April 14 at age 76. After a private 4:30 p.m. service, Ho’s ashes will be scattered at sea. The celebration of his life will be held at Queen’s Surf Beach from 6 p.m.

            TheBus will provide additional service from about 3 p.m. to Waikiki from Aala Park on Route 2 and from Ala Moana Center on Route 8. Extra buses will be operated on both routes after the tribute to Ho.

            Free parking will be provided at Kapiolani Community College parking lots A, B and C. Extra buses will run on Route 58 to transport people who park there to and from Waikiki.

            After the service, special buses will be available on Monsarrat Avenue by the Waikiki Shell to provide service on:

· Route 3 to Salt Lake

· Route 40 to Kapolei and the Waianae Coast

· Route 42 to Waipahu and Ewa Beach

· Route 56 to Kailua and Kaneohe

· Route 58/57 to Hawaii Kai, Waimanalo and Kailua
