MAYOR SIGNS FOUR BILLS INTO LAWMayor Mufi Hannemann has signed four bills into law today, October 29, 2007. Bill 47 changes the allowable zoning height for land situated at Hawaii Kai from 40- and 60-foot height limits to a uniform 90-foot height limit on A-2 Medium Density Apartment District zoned parcels totaling approximately 3.8 acres. The change allows the applicant, 21st Century Homes, Inc., to reconfigure the design of the project to allow more open space in courtyards, but does not change the number of units, capped at 297 units, nor change conditions required under Unilateral Agreements approved as part of prior zone changes. Bill 53, C.D. 1, rezones the 65.8-acre site of the former Bill 60, C.D. 1, implements the amendments to Sections 11-106 and 11-107, Revised Charter of Honolulu, ratified by the voters in the 2006 general election that authorized the Ethics Commission to impose civil fines on elected city officers for violations of the standards of conduct. Bill 62 revises the boundaries of the Fort Street Mall special improvement district No. 2. The bill does not: (1) change the district’s supplemental services or improvements to be provided or financed; (2) authorize new special assessments or bonds; nor (3) authorize any change to the rate or method of apportionment of the existing special assessment. -30 - CONTACT: Bill Brennan, 527-6928 |
