MAYOR’S STATEMENT ON

APPOINTMENT OF GLEN KAJIYAMA

Mayor Mufi Hannemann today issued the following statement regarding the appointment of Deputy Police Chief Glen Kajiyama as head of the Transportation Security Agency in Hawaii:

“Deputy Chief Kajiyama has been a stellar member of the City team.  His contributions to the Honolulu Police Department over 30 years have been invaluable, from the standard he set as an officer, to his role in enabling the department to earn national accreditation, to his ability to successfully tackle the many internal and external challenges facing the largest agency in City government.

“But Chief Kaj’s ideas and insights have been welcome in other City matters as well, as his advice and counsel have been particularly helpful to me and my cabinet during the two-plus years we’ve worked together.

“We will miss Chief Kajiyama deeply.  The City’s loss is the TSA’s gain.”
