HIGH WINDS PROMPT CLOSURE OF WAHIAWA BOTANICAL GARDEN

High winds have prompted the early closure of Wahiawa Botanical Garden today.

The City facility normally closes at 4 p.m., but was closed at 2:15 p.m. as a precaution because of the high winds in the area.

There was no major damage at Wahiawa Botanical Garden, but we have had some downed limbs there, as we have all over the city, said Terri-Ann Koike of the Urban Forestry Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation.  Horticulture Services crews have responded to numerous emergencies and have been working almost around the clock for the past several days.
