ELKS HOOP SHOOT FREE THROW CONTEST

OPEN TO BOYS AND GIRLS AGE 8-13

 

 

The Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest will be held at various Oahu parks in November and December as part of the Department of Parks and Recreation’s fall program.

 

There are three age groups (8 - 9, 10 - 11, and 12 - 13) for boys and girls.  Each contestant has 25 shots at the hoop and the highest score wins.

 

Winners in district competitions will advance to the city-wide competition on December 1.  Winners will advance to the state, regional and national competitions.

 

This annual contest is sponsored by the Honolulu, Kailua, and Pearl City Lodges of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks in conjunction with the Department of Parks and Recreation.

 

            District and city-wide contests dates and times:

 

District III:  November 14, 3 p.m., Pearl City District Park

District IV:  November 14, 3 p.m., Waimanalo District Park

District I:  November 21, 3 p.m., Manoa District Park

District II:  November 21, 3 p.m., Halawa District Park

City-wide Competition: December 1, 8:30 a.m., Halawa District Park

 

More than three-million youngsters throughout the nation entered the basketball free throw competition last year.
