MAYOR’S MIDTERM REPORT COMING TO YOU THIS WEEK

Mayor Mufi Hannemann’s Midterm Report is being distributed across Oahu this week with Wednesday’s Midweek magazine and Thursday’s Honolulu Advertiser.

“This allowed us to get a wide range of useful information to the largest number of people,” said Customer Services Director Jeff Coelho.  “We spent less than 12 cents per copy for printing and distribution.”

According to Section 5-103(j) of the City Charter, one of the duties of the mayor is to “make periodic reports informing the public as to city policies, programs and operations.”

The eight-page insert includes a message from Mayor Hannemann as well as:

·       Frequently called City telephone numbers and phone numbers for City departments and City Council members.

·       Important and oft-visited City websites, for the public to “go on line and save time.” One of the websites allows the public to view and download the entire 307-page Departmental and Agency Reports of the City and County of Honolulu, which is published annually by the Department of Customer Services.

·       Tips on pedestrian safety.

·       A primer for hurricane season, which starts on June 1.

·       Information on Honolulu’s High-Capacity Transit Corridor project.

The Mayor’s Midterm Report was prepared by the City’s Customer Services Department. It was printed and is being distributed by Midweek/Star-Bulletin and the Honolulu Advertiser at a cost of $46,588.  Midweek/Star-Bulletin printed 250,000 copies that will be included with this week’s edition of Midweek, dated Wednesday, May 23, and mailed to homes across Oahu. The Advertiser printed 144,000 copies that will be inserted with Thursday’s editions of the paper.
