MAYOR WILL MEET WITH OFFICIALS IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

            Mayor Mufi Hannemann leaves tomorrow night (Saturday, January 20, 2007) on a weeklong business trip to Washington, D.C.

            Hannemann’s itinerary includes meetings with members of Hawaii’s congressional delegation and other members of Congress and with officials of the Federal Transit Administration to discuss Honolulu’s mass transit project.

            Also in Washington, the mayor will attend the 75^th Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and preside over his first meeting as chairman of the conference’s Committee on Tourism, Arts, Parks, Entertainment and Sports. Hannemann was also elected last year to the Advisory Board of the Conference of Mayors.

            The mayor returns to Honolulu on Sunday, January 28. While he’s away, Managing Director Wayne Hashiro will be acting mayor.
