FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 30, 2007 NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD ELECTION RESULTSWILL BE AVAILABLE ONLINE TOMORROW Results of this year’s Neighborhood Board election will be available from 7 a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, May 1, 2007) at www.honolulu.gov/nco. A total of 44,047 ballots were cast in the elections for Of those, 4,030 were cast via the internet. This was the first time voters had the option of voting online. A total of 231,351 paper ballots were mailed to voters only in areas that had contested races. As in past elections, voters in districts with uncontested races or without candidates did not receive paper ballots. All voters, even those in uncontested districts, were eligible to use the online voting option. Overall turnout was 19.1 percent. Sixty-two of the 444 seats that were up for grabs in the biennial election were not filled.
