ROAD WORK WEEKLY REPORT

 

Scheduled road work for the week beginning May 13, 2007, for the Department of Design construction, Civil Division (Construction Management Branch), and Wastewater Division (Construction Management Branch) is listed below.  Road work is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

 

AIEA

Miscellaneous Guardrail Improvements at Aiea Heights Drive:  Work includes metal guardrails, concrete, asphalt concrete pavement, concrete rubble masonry, and other incidental related work.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2007)

 

Curb Ramps at Kaahele Street & Komo Mai Drive:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, July 2007)

 

Kaonohi Street / Moanalua Road Intersection Improvements:  Work includes additional left turn lanes from Kaonohi Street to Moanalua Road, both directions; adding dedicated right turn lanes on Moanalua Road to Kaonohi Street, both directions; retrofitting countdown pedestrian signal heads; adding emergency vehicle preemption (EVP) detectors; installing new mast arms with standards and traffic signal heads for the traffic signal system; constructing a raised concrete median with chain link fence on Kaonohi Street Makai; pavement markings.  Contract work completed.  Extra work remains to be done.

            (Estimated completion date May 2007)

 

Newtown Neighborhood Kaahele Street Improvements, Vicinity of Komo Mai Drive to Moanalua Road.  Work includes adding left turn pockets, pavement markings, and signs.

DIAMOND HEAD

Curb Ramps at Diamond Head Road and Coconut Avenue, Diamond Head Road and Beach Road, Diamond Head Road and Kahala Avenue:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2007)

 

Curb Ramps at Leahi Avenue and Monsarrat Avenue, Pualei Circle and Pualei Circle, Makapuu Avenue and Maunalei Avenue, Diamond Head Road and 18th Avenue, Diamond Head Road and 22nd Avenue, Diamond Head Road and Paikau Street, Paikau Street and Kaimanahila Street, Paikau Street and Kahala Aveneue:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers.  Upgrade the traffic signal systems.

EWA

Curb Ramps at Kehue Street & North Road, Kehue Street & Kehue Place, Kehue Street & Kei Place, Kehue Street & Keele Place, Kehue Street & Kekaihili Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers.

Fort Weaver Road Manhole and Pipe Rehabilitation:  Rehabilitate the existing sewer line with CIPP along Fort Weaver Road from Renton Road to Geiger Road.

HALEIWA

Miscellaneous Guardrail Improvements Haleiwa Road: Work includes metal guardrails, concrete, asphalt concrete pavement, concrete rubble masonry and other incidental related work.

HAWAII KAI

Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks, Kawaihae Street Area, Hawaii Kai  Work includes removal and reconstruction of damaged concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter areas; trimming of trees and cutting, removal of tree roots where the roots have damaged the areas; installing root barriers where required, and adjustment of utility boxes to new sidewalk grades, and other incidental related work.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2008)

 

HONOLULU

Rehabilitation of Beretania Street from N. King St. to Alapai St.  Traffic signal work at Richards and Queen Emma Streets.  Curb ramp construction at Alapai Street and Lauhala Street.  Thru-gutter and catch basin construction at Lauhala Street.

            (Estimated completion date, September 2007)

Resurfacing of a Portion of Dillingham Boulevard, Waiakamilo Road to Middle Street.  Reconstruction, cold milling and resurfacing of asphalt roadway; reconstruction of asphalt bus pads has been completed.  Adjusting utilities to grade; installation of pavement markings and vehicle loop detectors.

            (Estimated completion date, June 2007)

 

Curb Ramps at Emerson Street and Prospect Street, Iolani Avenue and Queen Emma Street (School Street and Lusitana Street), Hotel Street and Hale Makai Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers, upgrade traffic signal system.

Curb Ramps at Kaaahi Street & Kaamahu Place, Kaaahi Street & Kaaahi Place, Ahiahi Place & Lanakila Avenue, Bates Street & Bachelot Street, Nuuanu Avenue & Wylie Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers.

Fort St. Mall & Hotel Street Sewer Replacement/Rehabilitation:  Sewer line replacement and CIPP work along Hotel Street between Bethel Street and Bishop Street.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2007)

 

Emergency Reconstruction of Wall in the Vicinity of 2839 Pacific Heights Road.  Reconstruct a retaining wall in the vicinity of 2839 Pacific Heights Road.  Work includes removing the existing damaged CRM wall and landslide spoils, temporarily relocate plants in the work area, install temporary excavation support and BMPs, install drill shaft piles and construct a reinforced concrete retaining wall.

            (Estimated completion date, June 2007)

 

Round Top Drive Emergency Roadway Repairs:  Install drilled caissons and tie-back systems, reconstruct roadway pavement and curbs, relocate existing water line, and install guardrails.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2007)

 

Rehabilitation of South King Street between McCully Street and Old Waialae Road, East/West Hind Drive, Luinakoa Street, Kirkwood Place, Kupaua Place.  Reconstruction, cold milling and resurfacing of asphalt roadway; construction of concrete bus pads; reconstruction of curbs and gutters; adjustment of utilities to grade; installation of pavement markings and vehicle loop detectors.

            (Estimated completion date, June 2007)

 

KAILUA

Rehabilitation of Kainehe Street (Kihapai Street to Kailua Road) and Hamakua Drive (Kailua Road to Keolu Drive):  Roadway reconstruction, cold planning and resurfacing; construction of asphalt concrete and concrete bus pad; construction of curb ramps and associated traffic signal upgrades; reconstruction of existing concrete curbs and/or gutters, tree trimming and root pruning; adjustment of utility manholes frames and covers; pavement markings and vehicle detector loops.

            (Estimated completion date, July 2007)

 

Curb Ramps at Keolu Drive and Kupau Street, Keolu Drive and Nanialii Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers.

Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks - Kuulei Road, Uluniu Street, Kainehe Street, Kailua Road, Hahani Street, Hoolai Street, Aulike Street: Removal and reconstruction of damaged concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter areas, trimming of trees and cutting and removal of tree roots where the roots have damaged the areas, installing root barriers were required, and adjustment of utility boxes to new sidewalk grades, and other incidental related work.

Pooleka Street Drainage Improvements Pooleka Street to Waiomao Stream: Construct new drainage system.  Final cleanup and grass maintenance.

Kawa Ditch Improvements:  Naumanu Place & Nakuluai Street, Kaneohe:  Removal existing trapezoidal concrete drain channel lining and reconstruction of new concrete rectangular channel.

MILILANI

Curb Ramps at Wailawa Street & Wailawa Place, Waimakua Drive & Wailawa Street, Waimakua Drive & Wainihi Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers.

PALOLO

Curb Ramps at Palolo Avenue and Palolo Recreation Center:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers.

Kuahea Street Interim Drainage Repair:  Repair the existing disjointed or damaged 18 reinforced concrete pipes using cured in place lining.

PEARL CITY

Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks, Moanalua Road and Kaahumanu Street:  Reconstruct sidewalks, driveways, curbs, gutters and AC pavement.  Adjust utility boxes to new sidewalk grade.  Tree trimming, root pruning, installing root barriers and removal of trees where required.  (Estimated completion date, November 2007)

 

Localized Rehabilitation of Streets, Phase 2, Various Streets  Work includes cold planing; resurfacing of asphalt concrete pavements; reconstruction of failed asphalt concrete pavement areas; adjustment of utility manhole frame and covers; installation of pavement markings; and locating existing manholes, valve boxes, monuments, etc.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2008)

Hakimo Road Drainage Improvements, Hakimo Road and Ulehawa Street:  Construct and install new storm drain inlet structures, RC pipe, manholes, outlet structure, riprap and chain link fence.  Cold plan and repave existing A.C. pavement.

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2005(5) Mokuola Street & Kauolu Place, Paiwa Street & Kahuanui Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers.

Waikele Road Improvements:  Work includes widening of Waikele Road and addition of curb and sidewalk fronting Waipahu Intermediate School, from Farrington Highway to Waipahu Flood Control Channel; adjustment of manholes, and boxes on the roadway being widened.

            (Estimated completion date, August 2007)

 

Waipahu Street Drainage Improvements:  Construct a new drainage system with 18, 24, 30, and 36 RCP drain lines; drain inlets with concrete aprons; drain manholes; a special catch basin; concrete headwall and concrete swales.  Other work includes the lowering of the existing water line, installing concrete jackets over the existing sewer lines, protecting the existing utility facilities, and necessary restoration work.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2008)

 

WAIPIO

Localized Rehabilitation of Streets, Phase 2, Various Streets  Work includes cold planing; resurfacing of asphalt concrete pavements; reconstruction of failed asphalt concrete pavement areas; adjustment of utility manhole frame and covers; installation of pavement markings; and locating existing manholes, valve boxes, monuments, etc.
