FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 11, 2007 Release No. M-49-07 SCHOOL STREET TRAFFIC SIGNALS WILL BE ACTIVATED ON TUESDAY The new pedestrian traffic signals on The signals will begin normal operations about 9 a.m. Tuesday. Because they’re at a mid-block crosswalk, pedestrians who wish to cross must press the button to trigger the walk signal.
“This is part of our effort to improve pedestrian safety islandwide,” said Mayor Mufi Hannemann. “We can’t do it alone, of course and we urge motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution on the road at all times.”
