Mayor Mufi Hannemann announced today that the City collected more than 500 toys for the annual Toys for Tots drive at Honolulu Hale.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann said, “We’re grateful to the generous community groups that volunteered their time to support Toys for Tots and to all who contributed to making the holiday season brighter for a deserving child.”

The Toys for Tots drive at Honolulu Hale took place December 1-16 and was part of the 23rd annual Honolulu City Lights celebration.

More than 150 toys were collected during the special appearance of the Star Wars’ 501st Legion of Imperial Stormtroopers on December 13.  The appearance was made possible through the efforts of the Legion Commanding Officer John Williams, Executive Officer Tory Laitila, and U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Jens Orsen.

Since 1947, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program has fulfilled the wishes of millions of disadvantaged children during the holidays, reinforcing the joy and true meaning of Christmas giving and sharing.
