Three Adopt-A-Block/Adopt-A-Stream Cleanups This Week


      The City’s Storm Water Quality Branch of the Department of Environmental Services is holding three Adopt-A-Block/Adopt-A-Stream cleanups this week in Kaneohe, East Honolulu and Nanakuli.

      On Tuesday, Oct. 21, crews will be at Kawa Stream in Kaneohe from 3:30-5 p.m.  Assisting in the cleanup with be Castle High School, KBAC, DOT Highways, GeoTech Solutions and Hui Ku Maoli Ola.  Volunteers should enter through the gate located behind the Ron L. Bright Performing Arts Center.

      On Friday, Oct. 24, volunteers from Kalani High School, Malama O Maunalua, Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources and McDonalds Aina Haina will be cleaning up sections of Wailupe Stream from 9-11 a.m.  Volunteers should meet at the access gate at the end of Hind Place.

      Nanakuli-Maili Make-A-Difference Day is Saturday, Oct. 25, from 8:30-11 a.m.  Volunteers should enter through Nanakuli Beach Park and go left toward Nanakuli Pond.  Groups assisting with the cleanup include Nanakuli High School, Nanaikapono Elementary School, Ka Wai Hona O Nauauau, Maili Elementary School, McDonalds Nanakuli, Hawaii Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, civic and faith organizations.
