Mayor Mufi Hannemann said he is very grateful that a nonprofit group has donated equipment that will make it easier for disabled people to enjoy Alii Beach Park in Haleiwa.

AccesSurf Hawaii donated a Mobi-Mat (access pathway) and a Tiralo Beach Wheelchair to the City for public use at the park.

“We’re very appreciative for these generous gifts that will help disabled people enjoy a beautiful beach that we all love,” Mayor Hannemann said.

AccesSurf Hawaii and the City’s Department of Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Unit are hosting the first annual “On Sand, On Land and In the Sea” event this Saturday, August 9, from 9 am to 1 pm at Alii Beach Park’s Haleiwa Surf Center, 66-167 Haleiwa Road. The event is designed to educate the public that beach access is possible for everyone.
